Grayden is homeschooled and has pitched for Skyview HS (Nampa, ID) Varsity since his Freshman year. Grayden is the 5th of 8 children in his family. Older brother Easton Lucas, also a LHP is currently in the Baltimore Orioles organization. Like Grayden, Easton’s velo (now as high as 98.0) came at the end of HS before pitching at Pepperdine University for 4 years. He was a 2 time Summer West Coast League All-Star (2015 & 2016) for the Walla Walla Sweets as well as a Cape Code League All-Star (2018) for the Wareham Gatemen. Easton was drafted in the 14th round by the Miami Marlins in 2019, before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles. He pitched in High A in 2021 and AA all of 2022 and the Arizona Fall League 2022 for the Scottsdale Scorpions.
What makes Grayden unique (besides being 1-handed) is his game competitiveness and pitchability to truly mix 4 pitches for strikes in any count to keep hitters off-balance and guessing.
